The Real Reason You Spend All Of Monday, Worrying About Your Weekend Decisions…

It isn’t because you’re not disciplined. But it’s because you’re stuck in a cycle.
“I don’t want to go over my calories. I know I don’t need anymore. But it's so good! But I actually feel a bit sick right now. But I never allow myself to have these foods, have to make the most. Ok fine just a few more bites..."
This constant brain battle 🧠 , between scarcity mindset, restriction, self indulgence and permission. It’s a headache. I know.
It’s also the mindset that keeps you overeating at a weekend and scrambling “back on track” on a Monday. Because the over restriction creates hyper fixation and the more we tell ourselves no, the more we are inclined to actually do it.
This mental process, is what a lot of people experience when they come to work with me.
They might be struggling with-
🙅🏼♀️ Over restricting in the day to bank calories for the evening
🗓️ Only eating certain foods on certain days or after hard exercise
❌ Having good or bad food lists
✈️ Going on holiday and see it as a free for all and going off track
😮💨 Having a f**k it mindset over the weekend and starting fresh Monday
If that sounds familiar, it might be time to work on that mindset and moving more towards an all inclusive mindset. Let’s start with what TO DO ⬇️
Identify your 'food rules' are.
Are these rules coming from a good place or good intentions. Or are they you telling yourself they’re healthy, while actually protecting something more problematic.
How can you challenge this belief- can you include a food you normally limit to weekends on a Wednesday?
Now, what we need to try SAYING⬇️
🎤 If I want more of this food later or tomorrow, I'll eat it. That permission isn’t something I need to search for, it’s already there.
💬 There are always more opportunities to eat delicious food.
🤌🏼 I’ll enjoy this food more if I’m not stuffing it in my mouth and not savouring it.
🤷🏼♀️ Can I think to another time when I felt this way and didn’t eat mindfully? How did that feel?
🧐 If I really want this food, the most self respecting thing, would be to have a little bit, but realise I am in control of how much.
Working on your relationship with food doesn’t mean losing control. Or eating everything in sight. It doesn’t mean you don’t care about your body, or that you can’t want to change the way your body looks in someway.
But working on your relationship with food does mean, that you start to understanding the behaviours that are holding you back. You establish control over your actions; rather than feeling controlled by food.
So you have more energy to give to things that count 🤌🏼
Actually moving towards change and long term improvement 💝
